hard to line up the columns in this format, so I leave it up to you to line them up
1 │ 2 -5 7 -1
...... 2-3 4
....2 -3 4 3
so (2x^3 -5x^2 +7x-1)÷ (x-1) = 2x^2 - 3x + 4 with a remainder of 3
or (2x^3 -5x^2 +7x-1) = (x-1)(2x^2 - 3x + 4) + 3
1 │ 2 -5 7 -1
...... 2-3 4
....2 -3 4 3
so (2x^3 -5x^2 +7x-1)÷ (x-1) = 2x^2 - 3x + 4 with a remainder of 3
or (2x^3 -5x^2 +7x-1) = (x-1)(2x^2 - 3x + 4) + 3
