Samuel and Daniel shares some oranges in the ratio 4:5 respectively. Daniel received 3 more oranges than Samuel. How many oranges did Samuel get?

daniel = 3 + sam

sam/daniel =4/5

sam/(sam + 3) = 4/5

5s = 4s + 12
s = 12

Samuel --- 4x oranges
Daniel ----- 5x oranges
5x = 4x + 3
x = 3

Sam has 12, Daniel has 15
