I don't know your problem but all you need to do is to think of any sentence starting with that "next" letter. The following won't went a Pulitzer Prize but it answers the question.
Now is the time,
Or any time for that matter,
No matter how little or late,
Makes no difference to me.
Everyone can help,
Takes only a little time,
All in all it's worth it,
Like it or not it's done.

N-Nonmetal are brittle, not malleable and powdery.
O-Other nonmetal are hard, like carbon in the form of diamond.
N-Nonmetals break easily then metals.
M-Most nonmetal have low boiling and melting points except for carbon in the form of diamond.
E-Electricity and heat are poor from nonmetal due to their loosly held electrons.
T-There are not very strong then metals.
A-All nonmetals are not lustrous at all when they are in solid forms.
L-Lots of nonmetal are found on the right of the Sanderson line.
