What would be the product of 8-1x0+2/2
I say it would be 5 and my friend here says it would be 1

I split it up like this (according the the rules of PEMDAS: Parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction):
8 - (1*0) + (2/2) = 9
8 - (1*0) + (2/2) = 9
