"solve each problem and write your answers in scientific notation."
1. (6.0•10^5) •(3.0•10^4)
2.(5•10^-2)/(2•10^3)
3.(2.56•10^6)•(3.56•10^2)
4. "In a recent year , the population was about 2.52•10^7 people. Its land area is about 4.05•10^5 km^2. What was tbe average number of people per square kilometer?

multiply the numbers
if multiplying, add exponents
if dividing, subtract exponents.
For example
4*10^2 * 3*10^3 = 12*10^5
but, to keep it in scientific notation, the number cannot be 10 or more, so
12*10^5 = 1.2*10^6
For the last problem, you want pop/km^2, so divide
2.52•10^7 by 4.05•10^5 = (2.52/4.05)*10^(7-2) = ...
