I am convinced that our system of temporary enlistments have prolonged war.we may expect everything from ours that a milita is capable of, but we must not expect... Service for which regulars alone are fit. The late battle of Camden is a sad comment upon this doctrine. The militia fled at first fire, and left the continental troops surronded... --from a letter written by George Washington to the continental congress

What is George Washington asking the continental congress to do?
What is wrong with George Washington's army the way it is?

What were the differences between the men who served in a "militia" and those who served in the "continental troops" (the "regulars")?

Look up the terms here if you are not 100% sure of any words' meanings:

Is the answer too the second question the army was barely trained and unequipped.?
Answered by Writeacher
Not quite.

Re-read about the differences between the two types of soldiers, and then do some searches to find how many were in the continental army and how many were in various militias. You should be able to write a better answer.

You do know how to conduct searches on google or bing, yes?
