Question

Understanding Newton's First and Second Laws, why do all objets near Earth accelerate at a constant rate "g"?

I'm very confused, is it something about how inertia keeps the objects accelerating? Please help , thank you.

When a force is applied, masses accelerate. Near the Earth, the dominant force is due to the gravitational attraction of the Earth. It decreases in inverse proportion to the distance fron the center of the Earth
