Jammed is building a two story house in which the top floor is 12feet above the bottom floor the local building code specifies that the hight of a step cannot be above 7.5 inches what is the maximum height of a step in a staircase that jammed can construct between the floors if all steps will have the same hight .

12 ft ÷ 7.5 inches
= 144 inches ÷ 7.5 inches
= 19.2 steps
but the number of steps is a whole number.
if we have 19 steps each would be 144/19 or 7.598 inches high, which is too high
so we have to go with 20 steps, each one 7.2 inches high
