Write each rate as a unit rate.
4 championships in 16 years
I don't understand how you would write the above as a unit rate.
Please explain.

Wait. Would it just be 4/1 and then 16/1

Or the answer would be
4/16=x/1
4/16=x/1

Matt, it doesn't have a definition for 'rates' in your book at all?

I think I get what they are saying. It would be as follows:
4/16=0.25/1
4/16=0.25/1

What I see Matt, is a rate of 4 championships per 16 years or simplified...into:
4 champ
---------- = 1 championships / 4 years
16 years
----OR-----
16 years
---------- = 4 years / championship
4 champ
4 champ
---------- = 1 championships / 4 years
16 years
----OR-----
16 years
---------- = 4 years / championship
4 champ

For a rate, you need to let the people know what you are talking about...such as when you are talking about speed in your car, (example):
Traveling at a rate of 30 miles in 2 hours or,
30 miles / 2 hours

30 miles / 2 hours
