Chan Hee bought 3.4 pounds of coffee that cost $6.95 per pound. How much did he spend on coffee?

My answer:
$6.95/3.4=2.044

Is my answer correct or how would I do this

How can he pay less than the cost of a pound of coffee?

You have four choices -- add, subtract, multiply, divide. You divided and came up with a ridiculous answer.

Multiply so you would multiply $6.95 per pound of coffee x 3.4 pounds of coffee=$23.63 is the total that he paid
