hello,
I am to calculate a model length of a boat and a car.
The boat's true length is 17 feet and the car's true length is 20 feet. The model will be on a 1:16 scale.
Could you tell me how I get started with this please?

since the model is 1/16 as big, just divide all the dimensions by 16:
boat: (17/16) ft
car: (20/16) ft
You might want to express those in inches

Thank you, Steve.
The question does actually also ask us to put it into inches, so I'm thinking to do that I would divide by 12 since there are 12 inches in a foot? Would that be correct?
