Q) Starting from a point A, a man walks 600 m in an easterly direction up a slope inclined at 11° to the horizontal and reaches point B. Calculate the height of B above the level of A ( to 3 significant figures ). He now looks east and observes that the angle of depression of a point C on the same level as A is 23°. Calculate the distance of C from A.

If B is at height h above A, then
h/600 = sin11°
Now, if the distance CA is x,
x = 600cos11° + h cot23°
If B is at height h above A, then
h/600 = sin11°
