    on the first, if it is 5.5 x sqrt5, because sqrt5 is irrational, multiplying it by anything still yields an irrational number
On the cereals, I would read the nutrition labels first. Most likely, none of them are a "best buy". However, I understand the teacher is teaching unit pricing. So divide each cost by the weight to get cost/oz. The "best buy" is the lowest, regardless of what it does to your body.
