1. Andy's sub-total at Chick-fil-A was $18.79 for several sandwiches and one sweet tea for $1.79. Write an equation. How many sandwiches did Andy buy?

Not exactly sure how to solve. What i have so far which is not right:
x + 1.79 = 18.79

How can i figure out how much each sandwich costs?

You can't figure this out unless you know how many sandwiches he ordered. If he ordered 5 sandwiches, each cost $3.40. Ten sandwiches would cost $1.70 each.
