Question
A man travels for 5 hr 15 min if he covers the first half of the journey at 60 kmph and the rest at 45 kmph. find the total distance travelled by him.
Answers
total time = 5 hrs, 15 minutes = 5.25 hrs
let the total journey be 2x
time at 60 km/h = x/60
time at 45 km/h = x/45
x/60 + x/45 = 5.25 = 21/4
times 180 , the LCD
3x + 4x = 945
7x = 945
x = 135
total distance = 2x = 270 km
check:
135/60 = 9/4 hrs
135/45 = 3 hrs
total time = 9/4 + 3 = 21/4 = 5 1/4
