If w games were won, then 15-w were lost, so the points add up as
5w - 2(15-w) = 54
So, solve for w.
5w - 2(15-w) = 54
So, solve for w.

Let win be X
So loss will be 15-X
5*x+ 2(15-x)=54
5X+30-2X=54
3X+30-30=54-30
3X=24
X=8
So 8 games won
7games lost
So loss will be 15-X
5*x+ 2(15-x)=54
5X+30-2X=54
3X+30-30=54-30
3X=24
X=8
So 8 games won
7games lost

Win=x
Loss=15-x
;....win will be 5×x
....loss... 2(15-x)
Sum of points... 54
Therefore (5×X)-2(15-X)=54
5X-30+2X=54
7X=54+30
7X=84....divide both side with 7...
X=12
Won...12
Lost...3

Win= +5pts
Lose= -2pts
Play= 15games
Total Points= 54pts
If Win= X ... Then, Lose= 15-X
Win= 5X Lose= -2(15-X) -30+2X
Win + Lose = 54
5X + (-30+2X) = 54 ...Collect the terms.
7X-30=54
7X=84 ...Divide both sides by 7.
X=12 Win (X) = 12
Therefore, Lose 15-X... =15-12

Answer
Let the number of games won be x
To get what he lose we subtract the number of games won from 15
5{x} -2{15-x}=54
5x-30+ 2x=54
7x=84
x = 12
Lose=15-x
15-12
