neighbour's age --- x
(4x+7)/3 - 9 = 20
times 3
4x+7 - 27 = 60
4x = 80
x=20
The neighbour is 20 years old
check:
times 4 --->80
add 7 ---->87
divide by 3 --> 29
subtract 9 ---> 20
(4x+7)/3 - 9 = 20
times 3
4x+7 - 27 = 60
4x = 80
x=20
The neighbour is 20 years old
