The radius of a cylinder is 3.5 ft. The height is 14 ft. Find the surface area and volume of the cylinder to the nearest tenth of a foot.
I think the volume is 538.51 in^3.
I just don't know the SA. Is it, possibly, 164.85 in^2. Or, no where closer than that answer?

For the volume I got 538.8 ft^3 to the nearest tenth of a foot.
(you should really use a better value for π than 3.14, most calculators have it built in correct to 10 decimals)
Your SA is made up of 2 circles + a rectangle
SA = 2π(3.5)^2 + 2π(3.5) = 384.8 ft^2

Given:
radius : 3.5 ft
height : 14 ft
Surface Area of a cylinder = 2πrh + 2πr²
S.A. = 2 * 3.14 * 3.5ft * 14ft + 2 * 3.14 * (3.5ft)²
S.A. = 307.72ft² + 2 * 3.14 12.25ft²
S.A. = 307.72ft² + 76.93ft²
S.A. = 384.65 ft²

12.25x3.14x2=76.93
307.72x76.93=384.65
Volume simplified
3.5x2=12.25
12.25x3.14x14=538.51
2x3.14x3.5x14=307.72
12.25x3.14x2=76.93

I can simplify the answer to volume, but I'm having trouble with the surface area still. Sorry!
Since the formula for volume is V=𝜋r^2h, the formula for this problem would be: V = (3.14)(3.5)^2 (14)
This would equal 538.51, which rounds to 539 ft.^3.
Hope I could help!
