do you mean
y = x^2 - 2 x - 6 ????
if so then
4 x + 10 = x^2 - 2 x - 6

x^2 - 6 x - 16 = 0

(x-8)(x+2) = 0
x = +8 or x = -2
C is looking good but check it

if x = -2 does y = +2 work?

if x = +8 does 42 work?
