                Mr.  Smith drove  90 miles one way to visit his brother.  He averaged twice his original speed on the return trip than he did going to visit.  If his total travel time was 3 hours, how fast   was he going each way

    since time = distance/speed, if his original speed was x,
90/x + 90/(2x) = 3
x = 45
    
90/x + 90/(2x) = 3
x = 45
