x^2 - 5x - 4 < 10
x^2 - 5x - 14 < 0
(x-2)(x+7) < 0
if y = (x-2)(x+7)
we have a parabola opening upwards with x-intercepts of 2 and -7
the parabola would be below the x-axis, that is y < 0 ,
for -7 < x < 2
