A hardware store keeps 3/4 of each merchandise on the shelves and the rest in the back. On-tenth of the value of the store's merchandise is lumber. Of the remainder, 2/3 is tools and 1/3 consumables. If the tools are worth $6,000 how much is the lumber in the back room worth?
My teacher said the answer is 250 but I have no idea where to begin and what equations to create to get to that answer.

If tools are 2/3*9/10, and those are 6000, then all inventory must be 30/18*6000=30/3*1000=100,000
1/10 is lumber=10,000
and 1/4 of that is in the back=2500
