A number was subtracted by 2.6 and that difference was then divided by 0.3 After which the quotient was multiplied by 3. This product was -48. What was the number?

[ (x-2.6)/0.3 ] 3 = -48
(x-2.6)/0.3 = -16
x - 2.6 = -4.8
x = -2.2
