How does salt hydrolysis work between sodium hydroxide and lactic acid in a titration?

The lactate ion is hydrolyzed by the water in the solution.
L^- + H2O ==> HL + OH^- so the solution will be alkaline.
L^- + H2O ==> HL + OH^- so the solution will be alkaline.
