A machine with a velocity ratio requires 1000J of work to raise a load of 500N through a vertical distance of 1.7m . find the efficiency and mechanical advantage of the machine.

work output = 500 * 1.7 = 850 Joules
work input = 1000 Joules
efficiency = (850/1000)100 = 85 %
since you did not say what the velocity ratio was, how would I know what the mechanical advantage was? They are the same on inverses depending of which way you write the velocity ratio.
