So, first the ratio = 5:3. Then, lets say x=1st #; y=2nd #.
So, then you get these:
x+y=160 (1)
x:y=5:3 (2)
From (2) you get x=5y/3
Then (1) would become 5y/3+y=160
We get y=60
So x=160-60=100
The two numbers are 60 and 100.
