The diameter of a tire is 2.5 ft. What is the circumference of the tire? About how many times will thee tire have to rotate to travel in 1 mile? 5280 ft.

A. 5 ft?

B. 1,056ft???

Answered by Ms. Sue
The circumference is not 5 feet.

C = pi * d

Guys WTF just explain please!!
Answered by Teacher
C = 7.85

Then divide 5280 by 7.85
= 672.6
Answered by Teacher
C = pi x d
C=3.14 x 2.5
C = 7.85

Then divide 5280 by 7.85
= 672.6 revolutions in one mile

A. YOU need to multiply 3.14 by 2.5
it equals 1.14 x 2.5
that equals 7.85
u have to round it so the final answer is 8

B. 1 mile = 5,280 feet
1 rotation is 7.85
5,280/7.85 = 672.611465

HERE'S HELP
1 mile = 5,280 feet
1 rotation is 7.85
5,280/7.85 = 672.611465

A. circumference is: 7.85 inches
B. it will rotate: 672 times
This is where you need to be.....

2.5 diameter times pi
gets you to 7.85 ft that is one rotation distance.
One miles is 5280 feet
you divide now your 7.85 into the 5280 and see how many times the tire will rotate .. the answer is that 672.611 number but the answer is 672
it will rotate 672 times to get a mile down the road because the circle is taking up seven inches to make a full rotation. get it? you're welcome!
Answered by Lol, you guys.....
The circumference is the line from the center of the circle to the edge of the circle, so if the hight of the circle is 2.5, we would have to divide it by 2 to get half the circle.

I believe what they are saying is that the circumference of a circle is equal to 3.14 times the diameter. In this specific problem the diameter is 2.5.
The circumference is equal to 3.14 times the diameter 2.5 which makes 7.85 your circumference.
Divide the number of feet traveled in one mile (5,280) by your circumference (7.85) so you now get your final answer 672. The tire will rotate 672 times per mile.
Hope this helps!

A- The circumference of the tire is about 7.85 feet

B- The tire will rotate about 672 times to travel 1 mile

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula of the circumference of a circle is C = π d, where d is the diameter of the circle
If a circle rotates for n turns and make a distance S, then n =
∵ The diameter of a tire is 2.5 ft

∴ d = 2.5 ft

∵ C = π d, where C is the circumference of tire

∴ C = π(2.5) = 7.85398 ft

∴ C ≅ 7.85 feet

A- The circumference of the tire is about 7.85 feet

∵ The tire have to travel 1 mile

∵ 1 mile = 5280 feet

∴ S = 5280 feet

- To find the number of rotation of the tire divide S by C

∵ n =

∴ n = ≅ 672 revolution

B- The tire will rotate about 672 times to travel 1 mile

u guys frustrate me, I'm not helping, as many people here who did, already, really? you still don't get it? you know, i don't think you don't understand but its the fact that you guys are being very lazy not reading, and not typing your own answers, you guys want straight answers which are given some are just to lazy to use there brain and read and try to understand you just take one look at the paragraph with the answer and say " still don't get it "that should be embarrassing" but its not because you real name is not shown.
