a water line is given by the equation y = - 2/3x - 12
.
Suppose you want to put a pink flamingo lawn ornament in your backyard, but you want to avoid placing it directly over the water line, in case you need to excavate the line for repairs in the future. Could you place it at the point (-4,-10)? yes
c) What is the slope and y-intercept of the line in part b? How do you know? intercept is (0,12) because if x is -3, y is 10 (-3,10)
if x is -6, y is 8 (-6,8)
if x is -9, y is 6 (-9,6)
when a straight line is drawn it intercepts at 12
the slope is: 2/3

How could it be at that point?
y=-2/3 * (-4) -12
y=8/3 -12 .
y=-2/3 * (-4) -12
y=8/3 -12 .
