A car travels 27 miles in 30 minutes. How is the rate in miles/min.
I understand I need to divide 27 by 30 and when I do that I get .90, but then how do I correctly label my answer, .9 miles/min? That doesn't seem like an answer that really makes sense for some reason.

I would label it as this:
velocity= 0.90 miles/minute
it would make more sense to most of us in meters/second, or miles/hour, or feet/second.
velocity(ft/sec)=.9mile/min*1min/60sec*5280ft/mile =79.2 ft/sec
Which brings me to something you need to memorize: 60mph=88ft/sec
velocity(miles/hr)=79.2ft/sec* 60mph/88fps= 54 mph

Thank you. I actually mistyped - the question is what is the rate in miles/min, not how is the rate... but I'll just go with that. I guess it's just not something we see a lot - miles/min.
