First give 10 litres and take back 3 litres 3 times it makes 10-9 = 1 litre balance. Then in another pot give 7 litres and take away 3 litres so that makes 7-3 = 4 litres. Then add the milk in the bowls together that becomes 4+1 = 5 litres.

Take the 10 ltr can and take out 3 ltr 2 times and pour it in 7 ltr can. Now again take out 3 ltr in the can,you get 1 ltr give it to the man.now pour the milk from 3ltr can to the 7 ltr can which is containing 6 ltr in it so pour the remaining 2 ltr in 10ltr can. Remove 3ltr milk from 7ltr can so now it contain 4ltr.give this to the man so1+4=5
