Can you explain that?

You can go to Google search and find the answer to just about any math problem.
8^0 is basically saying 8 multiplied by itself 0 times; therefore it's still 8.
8^2 is 8 x 8 = 16
We normally don't see exponents under 2.
A math teacher may have further explanation for you.

kate, do you know about the rules for multiplying powers? IF so, then
suppose I multiply 8^0 by 8^2
according to the rules of exponents the answer is
8^2, since we have to add the exponents.
now we just multiplied 8^2 by some number and our result was 8^2,
clearly only the number 1 would behave like that, wouln't it?
so 8^0 = 1
(I could make that same argument using any other base)
