Jimmy made a scale drawing of his house. The actual dimensions of his house are 50 feet by 100 feet. He used the scale 1 inch : 10 feet. What arethe dimensions of Jimmy’s house in the drawing?

10 feet = 1 inch
50 feet = 5 inches

50 / 10 = 5

You could also set up a proportion.

1/10 = x/50

Cross multiply and solve for x.

10x = 50

x = 50/10

x = 5 inches
