Tony's family wants to arrive at the family reunion at 5:00 pm for the supper that is being planned. Driving time will be about 6 hrs 30 mins. They plan to stop for gas one time for 10 mins. They also will stop for lunch for 45 mins. At what time should they leave in order to arrive by 5:00 pm?

Stop for gas is 10 min

Now we have 6 hrs and 40 min.

45 min for lunch so 6 hrs and 85 minutes

I hour = 60 minutes so you have 7 hours 20 minutes

gas 1/6 hr
lunch 3/4 hr

sum = 7.41666666... hr

= 7 hours + .416666.. * 60 min

= 7 hours and 25 minutes

so
that is 5 hours to noon + 2 hours 25 minutes before noon

sounds like 9:35 am
