If you divide 42 and 6 you will get the answer which is 7. (I am pretty sure).
If the length is L, then
2(w+L) = 42
2(6+L) = 42
...
2(w+L) = 42
2(6+L) = 42
...
42/6 is indeed 7, but it is not the answer to the question.
