What is the unit for wave speed?

"Wave speed" for what? Water in the ocean? Electromagnetic radiation? The latter would be in "cycles per second." The speed of a sound wave would be expressed in whatever units of distance over whatever amount of time you are using (e.g., miles per hour, feet per second).
