Estimate 16 20/30 x 28 3/7 - 4 13/25
+ 8 2/47 as a whole number or
as a mixed number where the
fractional part is 1/2.

A. 452
B. 480
C. 488
D. 492 1/2

I am trying to work this, and am
coming up with (D) 492 1/2.
Will you please see if I am right
and what you come up with?

Your question should use parentheses to indicate the order of operations.
(a x b) - c is not the same as a x (b-c)
None of your choices are very close, if the multiplication comes first. Let's use decimals to show that.
16 20/30 = 16.667
28 3/7 = 28.429
4 13/25 = 4.520
8 2/47 = 8.043
(16.667 x 28.429) - 4.520 - 8.043 = 461.263



The choices of my answers are
452,480, 488, 492 1/2
