Trevor's sister is 1/8 the height of a 40-foot dinosaur. She is

B. 5.5 feet tall
C. 5.3 feet tall
D. 5 feet tall

So that is my homework question i don't understand how to make a propotion to answer the question.

1/8 = x/40

Cross multiply and solve for x.

5 feet tall or D.
1/8 times x/40 (the proportion)
You would then cross multiply.
So then you'd have 40=8x.
Then you can divide by eight on each side and you'd get 5 feet.
