How do changes in DNA affect changes in adaptations?
(I am of the assumption that changes in DNA spur the adaptations that take place--at least those through genetic mutation--and thus the adaptations that are most beneficial prevail. May I please have some clarification? Thank you!)

Assuming that the DNA changes effect phenotype and/or behavior (some do not), your assumption is correct. No clarification necessary.
