The answer is
5.12 x 10 -6
but I have to explain why and idk? :(

start at the decimal and move right until you get one non zero number on the left, namely 5

You had to move right SIX spaces which is multiplying by ten six times
so
.00000512 * 10^6 = 5.12
so
.00000512 = 5.12 /10^6
which is
5.12*10^-6
