I don't remember how to solve this.

The question is: For what values of a is the expression 7(x-2)5 negative? Write answer using interval notation.

I assume you meant
7(x-2)^5 < 0
so (x-2)^5 < 0

we know (any negative)^5 < 0
so x-2 < 0
or
x < 2

oops sorry. it's actually
For what values of a is the expression 7(x-2)-5 negative?
Answered by Reiny
That's even easier

7(x-2) - 5 < 0
7x - 14 - 5 < 0
7x < 19
x <19/7
