If you are making a model of your bedroom, which would be an appropriate scale: 1 inch = 2 feet, or 1 inch = 12 feet? Explain.

well, a bedroom is likely to be around 12 feet long
if you make it 1 in/2 ft
then the model length will be
12 ft (1 in/2 ft) = 6 inches long (reasonable)
if you make it 1 in/12 ft
then
12 ft (1 in/12 ft) = 1 inch
(kind of tiny to work with)
if you make it 1 in/2 ft
then the model length will be
12 ft (1 in/2 ft) = 6 inches long (reasonable)

then
12 ft (1 in/12 ft) = 1 inch

If you have a typical bedroom with one side equaling 12 feet, one scale would give you a 1 inch side; the other would give you a 6 inch side.
