A fifth grade class of 32 students is going on a field trip. They want to rent vans to drive to the field trip. Each van seats a maximum of 7 students. What is the least number of vans the fifth grade class must rent so that each student has a seat? If I times it that is too many buses 32x7= 224 I know I don't subtract, so do I add which is 39 buses.

If each van can carry max 7 students, and 32 kids are going, we need 32/7 rounded up. 32/7 = ~4.57 = 5 vans.
You need 5 vans for the minimum to carry all 32 students and guarantee each student has a seat.

The 7th grade classes of 392 students are going on a field trip. They need 4 chaperones for every 28 students. How many adults are needed at the picnic?
