Can someone please help me??!!! i don't get this at all!! can you explain it step by step please? :)

Ellen and Allen have a lemonade stand. One sixth of their earnings E must be used to pay for supplies for the next day. Each child then gets to keep half of the remaining money. How much does each child get each day in terms of E?

E - 1/6 = money each child receives

are you sure that's right cause then they get to keep one half of the remaining money. how would you do that
