x/(x+1) - 2/(x-1)= 1

I have been trying to solve it but I do not know the steps to solve it.

1 answer

the LCD is (x+1)(x-1), so multiply each term by that

x(x-1) - 2(x+1) = (x+1)(x-1)
x^2 - x - 2x - 2 = x^2 - 1
-3x = 1
x = -1/3
