is mississippi east or west of alabama?

I am not sure if it is east or west!!..

North is up ^
South is down v
West is to your left <
East is to your right >

Some students remember the directions as Never Eat Stewed Worms. I remember that California is West. New York is east.

Check this map and see whether Mississippi is east or west of Alabama.
