i need you to check my answers for the following questions:
use the table to answer problems 1 to 4.
the table lists the commuting times for 5 people. write each ratio in the form a/b, and then as a decimal. tell whether each decimal is a terminating or a repeating decimal.
heres the table:
person commuting time (min.)
adelle 15
beau 25
charra 10
delee 8
emmet 20
1. beau's time to the sum of charra's and delee's times
my answer: 25/18 1.388 repeating
2. the product of delee's time and beau's time to adelle's time
my answer: 200/15 13.33 repeating
3. write two or three rational numbers with emmet's time in each denominator. is the rational number always a terminating decimal? justify your answer.
my answer: 11/20 9/20 3/20 the rational number with emmet's time as the denominator is always a terminating decimal because 11/20 as a decimal is .55, 9/20 is .45, and 3/20 is .15 all are terminating. with these decimals i can conclude that 20, emmet's time, as a denominator, always comes out as a terminating decimal.
4. use adelle's time as the denominator of rational numbers. find a numerator that results in a repeating decimal. explain how to find numerators for each type of rational number.
my answer: the numerator for a terminating decimal is 3 and the numerator for a repeating decimal is 11. to find the numerators for terminating decimal is to find the factors of the denominator for example, 3 is a factor of 15. for repeating, the numerator is not a factor of the denominator for example, 11. you can do the same with finding denominators.
5. is 1.5/7.5 a rational number? if not, explain why. if so, explain why and write it as a decimal.
my answer: 1.5/7.5 is a rational number because i can write it as a decimal or a ratio which is 0.2

What a convoluting question.
Here is how I would word this question.
1. is 25/18 terminating or repeating ?
--- repeating
2. is 8x25/15 terminating or repeating?
---- repeating
3. is any number divided by 20 terminating or repeating ?
---- terminating
4. which of the following fractions is terminating or repeating
25/15 -- R
10/15 -- R
8/15 --- R
20/15 --- R
5. is 1.5/7 rational ?
1.5/7 = 30/14 which is of course rational
Your answer is correct that it is rational but
1.5/7 ≠ .2
1.5/7 = .214285714..
the repeat is 142857

for #5 the ratio is 1.5/7.5 not 1.5/7.

Hello, I'm Aden a very intellectual kid and i'm here to help you.
1) 25/18 Decimal version= 1.388 repeating
2) 8/450
3) 1/2= 0.05 Terminating, 3= 0.15 Terminating, 7/20= 0.35 Terminating
4) 25/15 is repeating, 10/15 is repeating, 8/15 is repeating, 20/15 is repeating
5) 1.5/7= .214285714 repeating, you put the repeating sign over the 14.
