the midpoint is halfway between the two ends. That means it is the average of the two values:
(-2+12)/2 = 5
5 is 7 above -2, and 7 below 12

(-2+12)/2 = 5
5 is 7 above -2, and 7 below 12

This is a test question, you should go to your teacher rather than asking online.

Given: PB is a line segment on a number line.
The endpoints of the line segment are -2 and 12.
We have to determine the coordinate of its midpoint.
The coordinate of its midpoint is calculated by adding the coordinates of the line segment and then dividing it by 2.
Therefore, Coordinates of Midpoint =
=
= 5
Hence, the coordinate of the midpoint of the line segment PB is 5.
