Do the following lines intersect? If yes, show the the point of intersection, if any. 5x+8y=-5
-x-1.6y=14 
Im stuck. Please help! Thanks

In both cases, the slope is -5/8, so either the lines are identical, or they are parallel.

Pick a point on one line, and see whether it is also on the other line.
If y=0, then
for line 1, x = -1
for line 2, x = -14

So, the lines do not intersect.
