A total of 1,200 students attended Top View high school the ratio of teachers to students is 1:30.
How many teachers are there in the school?

I did it this way... x + 30x = 1200

31x/31 = 1200/31

1200/31
x= 38.70 = 39

Why are you adding teachers to students?

If there are x teachers,

x/1200 = 1/30
x=40
