cos^4 Ø - sin^4 Ø + sin^2 Ø
= (cos^2 Ø + sin^2 Ø)(cos^2 Ø - sin^2 Ø) + sin^2 Ø
= (1)(cos^2 Ø - sin^2 Ø) + sin^2 Ø
= cos^2 Ø
